North Metro’s DFL Organization
Senate District 51 is in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul. We include the cities of Blaine, Fridley, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park. The official map of the District following 2002’s redristicting is here (pdf.)
We are ably represented in the State Senate by Don Betzold and in our “B” subdistrict in the State House of Representatives by Tom Tillbery.
The Executive Committee are:
Jeremy Powers, Chair
Colleen Hogan, Associate Chair
Kathy Kieffer, Secretary
Tom Hamilton, Treasurer
Mike Haubrich, Affirmative Action Officer
We also have several active directors and precinct chairs. Watch for a full list to be added to this page.
I think Tom Tillberry represents 51B. 51A is represented by the Republican Tim Sanders.
By the way any ideas on recruiting a candidate to run against Sanders in 2010?
Thanks for the catch. I was a little embarrassed because I knew that.
There will be a forum for people to learn about the demands and requirements to run a successful campaigns for state office, and we will be posting more details shortly. We want this to be an open process for candidate selection, and encourage candidates to learn how to run a successful campaign. Despite a misperception that Shawn was “chosen,” this last election, it was an open process.
Watch this site for details.

Mike,
Thanks for putting this site together, it’s great! I hope we can grow it to a place where ideas can be exchanged as well in time.
Thanks, Cathy. I plan on doing at least one post per week, on issues. Like I wrote in the intro, everybody who is a member of SD51 DFL should feel free to send contributions. I will edit them, but I would like to see this is a participatory blog, a dynamic site.
